Civil Law Court places stay order on Nat’l Bar’s decision…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Civil Law Court has placed a stay order on the Liberia National Bar Association’s (LNBA) decision to expel its member, Cllr. Ndubusi Nwabudike.

Judge Kennedy Peabody on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, placed a restraining order on the Bar’s action as a result of an additional petition for a writ of preliminary injunction consistent with Chapter 7, Section 7.61 of the Civil Procedure Law of Liberia.

Judge Peabody is demanding the Bar’s leadership to appear or respond to the Petitioner’s application for a writ of preliminary injunction before August 13, 2020.

ELBC Judicial Reporter says it remains unclear as to whether the Petitioner’s lawyer, Cllr. Johnny Momoh’s request for preliminary injunction can undo the Bar’s action after the Petitioner previous application for a writ of prohibition suffered serious setback at the Supreme Court.

Cllr. Ndubusi Nwabudike was expelled by the LNBA in June this year amid controversies surrounding his Liberian citizenship.
