Commerce Ministry sells huge consignment of rice…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Commerce Ministry says it has sold huge quantity of rice from three business entities in Monrovia and other parts, for allegedly hoarding and hiking the price of the commodity.

The three business entities are AJ Business at the Rally Time Market, Modou and Toulel Business Centers on the Old Road, were allegedly caught selling rice above the Commerce Ministry’s Approved Price.

Commerce Ministry Communications Director Jacob Parley told ELBC that the Ministry sold the rice at two-thousand-seven-hundred Liberian Dollars, to customers at the various centers.

Mr. Parley reiterated the Ministry’s statement that the price of 25 kg bag of rice remains at thirteen-dollars-fifty-cents.

He, however, said: “There’s no shortage of rice on the Liberian Market, and citizens should report hoarding and hiking of the rice price.”
