Govt. to release guidelines for Roberts International Airport re-opening

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is expected to shortly release the guidelines leading to the re-opening of the Roberts International Airport (RIA).

Last week, the Government rescheduled the reopening of the RIA to the 28th of June as part of effort to partially open the Economy.

Information Minister, Eugene Nagbe, made the disclosure Friday, June 26, 2020, in an ELBC interview.

Minister Nagbe said:” President George Weah has instructed stakeholders and the Management of the Airport to publish the guidelines to the public on Friday.”

He also announced that SN Brussels will be the first commercial flight arriving at the Airport on Monday, June 29, 2020.

Meanwhile, Minister Nagbe has termed as false and misleading, fake publication claiming that Liberia is the poorest Country in the world.

He said:” Though there is poverty, which is not only unique to Liberia alone, no organization of international repute has declared the Country poorest on the globe.”

At the same time, the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) says all is now set for Immigration officers to carry out routine services at the Roberts International Airport.

The LISsaid:” The officers have been prepared to ensure new arrivals adhere to straight health protocols.”

The Commissioner General of the LIS, Col. Robert Budy, made the disclosure Friday, June 26, 2020, in an ELBCinterview.

Col. Budy said the new health measures have been observed at every Airport of ECOWAS member States.

Col. Budy also announced that manpower has been beefed up at the RIA as part of reopening the Airport to commercial flights.

Meanwhile, the LIS Commissioner General said:” An effective patrol of immigration officers at the one-hundred-thirty illegal border towns across the Country is currently going on.”
