Finance Ministry receives Budget Option paper

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Finance has received a Budget Option Paper titled “SHALLOW”.

The document was presented by five Civil Society Organizations in Monrovia to convey the dreams and aspirations of citizens, reflecting the usage of the National Budget.

During the Presentation Tuesday, June 24, 2020, the Executive Director of the Institute for Research and Democratic Development (IREDD), Herald Aidoo, recommended concrete actions for revenue expenditure.

Mr. Aidoo, among other things, also wants Government to adopt a realistic conservative revenue forecasting module, revision of beneficiaries of tax waivers and partnership with donors to close any potential revenue gap in the wake of financial constraints.

Receiving the document, Deputy Finance Minister for Budget, Tenneh Brunson, praised the Civil Society Organizations for the review and submission of the budget option paper to the Ministry.

Madam Brunson said: “It is part of the global trend for participation and the Liberian Government remains supportive of such.
