UN Population Fund turns over Maternity Unit…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United Nations Population Fund has turned over a maternity unit to the Health Ministry.

The Spotlight Initiative in Liberia funded maternity is situated at the 14th Military Hospital in Lower Margibi County.

According to a release issued over the weekend, the facility will provide antenatal care, delivery, emergency obstetric care and postnatal care services for pregnant coronavirus infected women admitted at the hospital.

Speaking at the turning over ceremony recently, Deputy Health Minister Dr.Francis Kateh said:” Pregnant women receiving treatment for coronavirus will benefit from maternity health services.”

Dr.Kateh said:” The unit will ensure that patients have safety of their pregnancies and the wellbeing of their   newborns.”

Spotlight Initiative-an EU and UN global partnership to eliminate all kinds of violence against women and girls, was launched in 2017 by the Liberian Government and partners.
