Press Union of Liberia, Partners discuss drafting a bill to establish an Independent Media Commission

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -A discussion on the drafting of the bill for the establishment of an Independent Media Commission in Liberia is currently taking place in Monrovia.

The discussion is being held by the Press Union of Liberia in collaboration with the Center for Media Studies and Peace Building.

According to a release, the discussion is funded by the Liberia Media Development Program and managed by Inter-news.

The Independent Media Commission if established will institute an effective regulatory framework for Journalists and Media Institutions modeled on best practices flexible to the Liberian context.

On March 20 this year, media stakeholders came out with plan detailing the progressive process for a technical working Group to establishment an independent Media Regulatory Commission.
