Lawyers for Former Central Bank of Liberia Governor, Milton Weeks, seek to advance his criminal case

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -Lawyers representing former Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Governor, Milton Weeks, have filed an application to criminal Court C at the Temple of Justice.

The lawyers’ application seeks to advance Mr. Weeks’ criminal case currently on the docket for hearing during this May Term of Court.

The Liberian Government recently re-indicted the former CBL Governor, along with four other former CBL Board Members for multiple offenses.

The multiple offenses include economic sabotage, money laundering, criminal conspiracy, criminal facilitation, misuse of public funds and theft of property.

Mr. Weeks’ legal team, headed by Cllr. Abraham Sillah, Thursday submitted a 9-count motion for the advancement of the case.

Cllr. Sillah’s application claimed that government’s June 8 indictment is the third criminal instruments against his client, in more than a year without any attempt to prosecute him.

I9n another development, three of the seven re-indicted former Ce4ntral Bank of Liberia officials have surrendered themselves to Criminal Court C for prosecution.

Defendants Richards Walker, Dorbor Hagba, and Joseph Dennis were turned over to the Court Wednesday, June 10, 2020 by their lawyers, Cllr. Johnny Momo.
