Nat’l Teachers Asso. wants Gov. allocate 20% of Nat’l Budget for Education Sector

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL) is appealing to the Liberian Government to allocate twenty percent of the National Budget for the Education Sector.

Speaking on behalf of the NTAL Wednesday, June 3, 2020, the Secretary General, Samuel Johnson, said:” If the minimum allocation of the sector is achieved, the Ministry of Education, including universities, colleges and other agencies, will be able to address some major challenges the sector is faced with.”

Rev. Johnson said the Liberian Education Sector is facing many challenges due to low budgetary allocation and support.

The NTAL said they are aware of the impact COVID-19 has caused on the Education Sector that is already challenged. The More for Education campaign is a coalition of seven Liberian civil society organizations working across the Country, to advocate for minimum allocation, with the aim to engage education stakeholders and policy members, including the Legislature.
