Ministry of Gender Strengthens SGBV Response

Gender Ministry, Willliameta Saydee-Tarr, says the ministry has strengthened it Sexual Based Violence unit to response to any act of sexual gender based violence during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Minister Saydee-Tarr said the Gender Ministry will ensure that woman, girls and children are safe and protected against Sexual gender based violence.

She said women, girls and children are mostly victimized in the communities and disclosed that the ministry has instituted measures to ensure access to justice and resources to help would-be victim.

Minister Saydee-Tarr told ELBC that the Gender Ministry is working on two pillars including women, girls and children as well as psychosocial activities as part of its Covid-19 response.

The Gender Minister explained that the psychosocial program is to rebuild the minds of those returning from the Treatment Center before allowing them in the community.
