President Weah Rallies Liberian Muslims on Start of Ramadan

President George Manneh Weah has called on Liberian Muslims to pray for an end of the coronavirus pandemic in Liberia and the rest of the world as they embark on the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“As you embark upon your month-long religious obligation of fasting, let me congratulate you on this noble undertaking” the Liberian Leader added.

President Weah said this year’s month of Ramadan comes at a very challenging time when the entire world is being ravished by the scourge of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is beginning to threaten the very existence of humanity.

In a message to the Islamic Community in Liberia, President Weah said, “While Liberian Muslims observe the Holy Month of Ramadan, I urge you to pray for an immediate end to this Pandemic in Liberia and in the entire world”.

The Liberian Leader has meanwhile expressed delight at the cooperation from the Muslim Community in Liberia stating “I am particularly pleased to note that the National Muslim Council of Liberia ordered the closure of all mosques even prior to the announcement of the Ministry of Health that all Liberians should observe personal distance protocols and avoid large gatherings”.

“In this regard, I call upon all Liberian Muslims, and other adherents to the Islamic faith, to continue to meticulously observe all other COVID-19 protocols promulgated by the Government of Liberia for the protection of our People against this disease” noted President Weah.

He concluded by inviting the Almighty Allah to give Liberian Muslim the strength as they endeavor to fast and pray during this holy month of Ramadan.
