11th Judicial Circuit Court finds Jonathan Williams guilty…

TUBMANBURG, BOMI COUNTY- (Fabine Kwiah)The Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, has found defendant Jonathan Williams guilty of murdering Journalist Tyron in April 2018, on Du-Port Road, Paynesville City.

The verdict followed after several months of legal battle between State Prosecutors and Defense Counsel in the murder case.

Prior to the ruling, the case was transferred from Criminal Court ‘C’ to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in Tubmanburg, after the Court granted Defense Counsel’s petition for change of venue consistent with law.

According to ELBC’s Judicial Reporter, the ruling was earlier scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2020, but was postponed to Tuesday, March 17, 2020, due to illness of the judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Judge Nancy Sammy.

According to our Reporter, Convict Jonathan Williams is expected to be sentenced next Monday, March 23, 2020, in line with the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia.

Meanwhile, Defense Counsel has taken exception to Judge Sammy’s ruling and is expected to seek redress at the Supreme Court of Liberia, soon.
