MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Today is the 211th Birthday Anniversary of President Joseph Jenkins Roberts, and it is being observed as a National Holiday throughout the Country.
It followed a proclamation issued by President George Weah over the weekend, declaring Sunday, March 15, 2020 as the 211th birth anniversary of President Roberts.
The Proclamation, according to a Foreign Ministry release, is in consonance with an Act of the 42nd National Legislature, declaring March 15 of each year as the birth anniversary of Joseph Jenkins Roberts, First President of the Republic of Liberia.
The day is also a mark of respect and reverence to President Robert’s memory and untiring efforts in organizing the Government of Liberia.
The proclamation also quotes President Weah as ordering all government offices, public buildings and business houses closed on today Monday, March 16, 2020, from six in the morning to six in the evening.
