MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Justice has confirmed a jailbreak at the Kakata Central Prison in Margibi County, resulting in the escape of an unspecified number of inmates from the facility.

A Justice Ministry release says state Joint Security has been alerted and a search and recapture operation is underway, as residents around the facility decried safety concerns.

According to the release, the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation has begun a verification and reconciliation process to establish and confirm the identities and number of inmates involved.

The Justice Ministry Has Further warned the Public against any attempt to apprehend the prison escapees but appealed to the public to provide sensitive information on their whereabouts to the joint security to track their whereabouts.

Up to press time, no arrests have been made so far, as the pursuit of the escapees by the joint security intensifies in Kakata and its immediate suburbs.
