MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has called for a multi-sectoral approach in addressing challenges associated with non-performing loans.
President Boakai urged the Central and Commercial Banks. The National Legislature, the Judiciary, the private sector, and other partners to work together and restore confidence in the country’s financial system.
The Liberian Leader was speaking on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Congo Town, at the opening of the National Non-Performing Loans Resolution Conference.
The President also proposed strengthening the credit reporting system, improving land administration and collateral registration as key to restoring confidence in the financial sector.
President Boakai said:” The goal of the conference is to transition from mere discussion to practical implementation to ensure Liberia’s financial system remains resilient and stable”.
He then urged participants to come up with clear commitments, assigned responsibilities, realistic timelines, and monitoring mechanisms that are essential to achieving financial stability.
