RIVERCESS COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has begun the disbursement of four hundred and four thousand, six hundred United States dollars to women across Rivercess County.

The amount is being distributed among one hundred and fifty-five women led enterprises, including forty-nine village saving loan associations and one hundred and six individual enterprises.

The grant is part of the government’s efforts in empowering rural women, under the Liberia Women Empowerment Project.

It is also intended to boost small businesses and improve the livelihoods of women.

Beneficiaries were drawn from thirty-two communities across six districts, including Central River, Doedian, Fen River, Jo River, Norwein, and Zarhflahn Districts in Rivercess County.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries lauded the government for its efforts in ensuring that the lives of ordinary people are improved.

According to them, this is the first time for women in the county to receive such an amount.

They noted that the grant signifies the dawn of a new day in their lives.

They also noted that empowering rural women signals a better future for women across the country.
