Pres. Boakai Dismisses Amb-at-Large Kouyateh

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has dismissed Ambassador-at-Large for Special Duties and Special Presidential Envoy, Sheikh Kouyateh, with immediate effect.

Ambassador Kouyateh’s dismissal stems from recent events arising from public statements attributed to him concerning the House of Representatives, coupled with subsequent communications received from that body expressing a ‘Vote of No Confidence’ in his continued service.

In a communication dated June 8, 2026, President Boakai informed Ambassador Kouyateh that these events have created circumstances requiring presidential attention and action.

The President emphasized that the success of Liberia’s national development agenda depends on constructive engagement, mutual respect, and effective collaboration among the three coordinate branches of the Liberian government.

The Liberian Chief Executive noted that the implementation of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development requires strong working relationships among national institutions in pursuit of the common good.

President Joseph Boakai thanked Ambassador Sheikh Kouyateh for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavors.
