GBARPOLU COUNTIES, LIBERIA-The Gender Ministry has begun an assessment tour of the Liberia Women’s Empowerment Project (LWEP).
The project is a 44.6 million World Bank-funded initiative focusing on women’s economic empowerment, addressing harmful social norms, and improving access to Education and social services for women across Liberia.
The tour aims to assess the quality of the project’s implementation, identify challenges, and identify areas for improvement at the output level.
It is also intended to assess the performance of livelihood activities, grant beneficiaries, income improvements, and sustainability.
The assessment is expected to cover Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Montserrado Counties.
Meanwhile, Gender Minister Gbeme Horace Kollie has expressed excitement over the project’s improvement in Gbarpolu County.
Speaking during a meeting with benefiting communities in Gbarpolu, Minister Kollie encouraged them to remain productive and improve their lives through the grants provided to them under the project.
She noted that the goal is to change the lives of vulnerable women, especially in rural communities.
Minister Kollie further recommitted the Ministry of Gender to working with women who have yet to benefit from the project.
For their part, the beneficiaries lauded the government and partners for the interventions made in their lives through the project.
