MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has disclosed heightened surveillance and active monitoring of the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
Ebola virus disease is a severe and often fatal illness that spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids of an infected person, contaminated materials, or the body of someone who has died from the disease.
NPHIL and the Ministry of Health are urging all citizens, residents, travelers, community leaders, and health workers to remain calm, yet vigilant.
Liberian Health authorities said they are working closely with County Health Teams, the Liberia One Health Coordination Platform, and regional public health bodies to monitor the evolving situation and strengthen national preparedness.
They express their commitment to protecting the health and safety of all Liberians through timely information sharing, coordinated preparedness actions, and evidence-based public health interventions.
