MONROVIA, Liberia – Liberia’s Inspector General for Police, Col. Gregory Coleman, has been designated for appointment as Co-Chair of the International Affairs Committee of the National Organisation of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).
NOBLE is one of the world’s most respected professional policing organisations.
The appointment places Liberia at a leadership level within international policing dialogue and reflects increasing global confidence in the country’s ongoing security-sector reforms.
Global Recognition for Liberian Leadership
According to official correspondence dated May 4, 2026, from incoming NOBLE National President Mitchell R. Davis III, Inspector General Coleman’s selection recognizes his leadership in modern policing, institutional reform, and international cooperation.
The designation will be formally conferred during NOBLE’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Training Conference, scheduled for July 2026 in Dallas, Texas.
The event will bring together law enforcement executives, policymakers, and criminal justice professionals from around the world to discuss the future of policing.
For Liberia, the appointment represents more than an individual achievement, it signals the country’s re-emergence as an active contributor to global security cooperation and professional law enforcement standards.
Liberia Gains Voice in International Policing
Speaking on the development on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Monrovia, Inspector General Coleman said the recognition demonstrates that Liberia is no longer operating solely within domestic policing frameworks but is increasingly shaping global law enforcement conversations.
“Liberia now has a voice at the table at the highest level of law enforcement engagement,” Coleman said. “This shows that our work is being recognised internationally, not just locally.”
He emphasised that Liberia’s presence within international policing organisations strengthens collaboration against evolving security threats that transcend national borders, including cybercrime, human trafficking, and violent extremism.
NOBLE noted that Coleman’s leadership role will enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly between Liberia and the United States, while promoting joint responses to transnational crime.
Advancing Police Reform and Professionalism
The LNP described the appointment as a significant institutional milestone, reinforcing Liberia’s growing contribution to global discussions on democratic policing, the rule of law, and accountability.
Coleman directly linked the international recognition to ongoing reforms within the Liberia National Police aimed at improving professionalism, strengthening discipline, and rebuilding public trust.
“We are making steady progress,” he said. “Our goal is to improve service delivery, respect the dignity and rights of citizens, and ensure that the rule of law prevails.”
He stressed that police reform remains a continuous process, noting that evolving security challenges require constant adaptation and modernisation within law enforcement institutions.
Strengthening Liberia’s Security Diplomacy
Analysts say Coleman’s elevation within NOBLE represents a form of “security diplomacy,” positioning Liberia as an emerging partner in international policing cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The Liberia National Police reaffirmed its commitment to deepening global partnerships while promoting cooperative approaches to combating organised crime, narcotics trafficking, cybercrime, and other transnational security threats confronting modern societies.
Coleman further pledged transparency and accountability within the force, assuring Liberians that leadership will remain honest and responsive whenever institutional shortcomings arise.
“The only way we gain legitimacy is through accountability,” he noted. “We will continue to work until Liberians can trust and respect their police.”
A New Chapter for Liberia’s Global Standing
As Liberia continues rebuilding institutions following years of post-conflict reform, Coleman’s international leadership role underscores a broader national trajectory toward professional governance and meaningful global engagement.
With the upcoming NOBLE conference expected to assemble top policing leaders from across the world, Liberia’s presence at the leadership table marks a significant step in elevating the country’s influence on the world policing platform, while advancing safer communities both at home and abroad.
