MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Two of the three defendants found guilty in the six-point-two million US dollars corruption case have filed a motion for a new trial before Criminal Court C.
Defendants Nyenati Tuan and Jefferson Karmoh, in a 29-count motion, asked the Court to set the guilty verdict aside of criminal conspiracy, criminal facilitation, and theft against them.
They claimed that the verdicts are contrary to law, contrary to the weight of evidence, and inconsistent with the jury’s acquittal of the alleged principal actors.
Awarding a new trial, according to Tuan and Karmoh, is in the interest of substantial justice.
Tuan was found guilty of all charges, while Karmoh was found guilty of two, with Tweah and Cooper being not guilty.
