MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The trial involving ex-Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweah, and four others, on Thursday took a different trend with one of the defendants in the trial denying involvement in the 6.2 million dollars that was transferred to the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA)’s account for the Joint Security.
Defendant Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor to former President George Weah, told the Court and the jurors that the testimonies made by Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, that he instructed him to transfer said amount, is false and misleading.
Karmoh said,” At no time did he meet former Acting Justice Minister, Cllr. Tuan, to discuss said amount to be transferred to the FIA’s account in 2023”.
On the issue about the assigned code to the FIA, Karmoh admitted to assigning Unit 800 as the radio code to the institution and not admitting the FIA to national security.
Prior to Karmoh taking the witness stand, there were heated arguments amongst the Defense Team, appealing to him to abandon taking the stand, because they knew he would implicate them.
His April 30, 2026, testimony to the Court has compelled the Defense Team to allow Cllr. Nyenati Tuan takes to the stand on Monday, May 4.
