MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has concurred with the House of Representatives on the passage of a fifty-three million U.S. dollar Supplementary Budget for Fiscal Year 2026.
The initial proposal stood at forty-five million U.S. dollars before adjustments tied to confirmed revenue figures and partner commitments pushed the final envelope to fifty-three million U.S. dollars.
The budget, crafted by the Joint Committees on Ways, Means, and Finance, and Public Accounts and Expenditure, is funded primarily by forty million USD in the World Bank budgetary support recorded in Fiscal Year 2025, supplemented by five million in excess domestic revenue, and an additional eight million USD from the World Bank as a bonus due to the budget’s over-performance.
The lawmakers said the recast plan is designed to stabilize payroll systems, sustain public service delivery, and direct targeted funding into critical sectors.
