MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The former Defense Minister and former Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Chief of Staff, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, gave separate accounts about former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and four others’ involvement in the millions of US Dollars used for security purposes.
Former Defense Minister Daniel Ziakanh told the court and jury that he had no clue as it relates to the admittance of the Financial Intelligence Agency into the Joint Security.
Ziakanh explained that the Joint Security is chaired by the Justice Minister, and if there is a national security emergency, the heads of all security agencies, who are part of the Joint Security, will convene a meeting where the venue will be determined by the chairman.
He said,” Operational and tactical requirements will be presented to the chairman for onward submission either to the National Security Council or by directive of the Justice Minister”.
As for the former Chief of Staff, Retired Major General Prince Johnson said that admitting the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) into the National Joint Security on July 5, 2023, was not to his knowledge, and that he has no idea of the FIA sitting with him in a meeting.
