Pres. Boakai Writes House of Rep. to Hold Special Session

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has written the House of Representatives, requesting a Special Session to address urgent national issues.

The session will run for ten working days, beginning on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

The re-convening is in line with Article 32 (b) of the Liberian Constitution, which empowers the President, with the endorsement of at least one-fourth of the members of each House, to convene or extend legislative sittings.

Key issues in the special sitting will include the proposal for the printing of additional Liberian dollar banknotes, as well as the passage of the 2026 Supplementary Budget.

President Boakai says the matters are critical and require immediate legislative attention.

He also expressed confidence that members of the National Legislature will respond promptly in the interest of the country.
