MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and four others will appear today, Thursday, at Criminal Court ‘C’ to commence the hearing in the trial.
Samuel Tweah, Nyenati Tuan, Stanley Ford, Moses Cooper, and Jefferson Kanneh are on trial for allegedly stealing over six million US Dollars and one billion Liberian Dollars during the past administration in which they served.
Their charges include economic sabotage, theft, unlawful disbursement, and expenditure of state resources, among others.
Several petitions were filed by Tweah’s legal team, including a petition for re-argument before the Supreme Court, but the Court upheld its December 18, 2025, opinion and ordered Criminal Court ‘C’ to proceed with the matter.
Tweah’s legal team argued that the accused were immune from prosecution, but the Supreme Court said under Article 61 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia, presidential immunity is restricted to the president and not his subordinates.
