Justice Kaba Places Stay Order on Arson Case Relating to Former House Speaker Koffa, 14 Others

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presiding Justice in Chambers, Yusuf Kaba, has placed a stay order on the arson case involving the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fonati Koffa, and fourteen others.

Justice Kaba’s stay order has cited Criminal Court “A” Judge Roosevelt Willie, and the prosecution team to a conference slated for Thursday, March 5, 2026.

With the citation of a conference, this means all matters about the arson case will be on hold, pending the outcome of the conference.

Criminal Court “A” Judge Roosevelt Willie, on January 26, announced a mistrial in the arson case involving Fonati Koffa and fourteen others at the Temple of Justice.

This means that the trial was terminated without a verdict, and that the entire panel jury has been disbanded and dismissed, and a new trial is required to start anew.
