21 Homes Burnt Down Completely in Bethel Community, Monweh District, Rivercess County

RIVERCESS COUNTY, LIBERIA-Twenty-one homes have been burned to the ground in Bethel, Monweh District, Rivercess County, following the disappearance of a 39-year- old a resident.

Reports say the angry crowd from Garwin, a neighboring town, attacked Bethel while the village men were out searching for Nelly Zarwah, who went missing for about four days on a hunting trip.

The attackers allegedly targeted the village, leaving women and children to watch as their homes and belongings were destroyed.

Our Correspondent said,” Residents are now homeless and seeking refuge in nearby towns, awaiting intervention from the Liberia National Police”.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Rivercess County Superintendent, Byron Zahnwea, confirmed the incident and revealed that an investigation.

Superintendent Zarweah cautioned citizens not to take laws in their own hands but rather channel their grievances to the County authorities.

Supt. Banweah described the citizens’ action as disturbing, calling for calm.
