VP Koung acknowledged China’s significant contributions to Liberia’s infrastructure, education, and economic development.

Speaking at celebrations marking the Chinese New Year reception in Paynesville over the weekend, the Liberian Vice President expressed gratitude for Chinese investments, which have lifted people out of poverty and fostered global growth and technology.

The Vice President said,” The Government of Liberia values China’s experience, wisdom, and leadership of global peace, security, and development”.

Vice President Jeremiah Koung also assured that Liberia will leverage such an opportunity to further advance its interests at the global level.

As such, Ambassador Yin said,” China has imposed a zero-tariff policy on all Liberian exports”.

The Chinese Ambassador stated that the move has sparked a 23.9% surge in trade, increasing Liberian exports to China at one hundred and thirty-one million US Dollars.

The Chinese Envoy named the construction of the two overpass bridges, the National Clinical Diagnosis, the treatment Laboratory at the 14 Military Hospital, and the Liberia Broadcasting System Broadcast Complex as major projects.

Ambassador Yin Chengwu said his country will foster greater synergy for the global south joint march towards modernization.

At the same time, he said the year 2026 marks the 70th Anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between China and Africa.
