MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, with support from the African Development Bank (ADB), has launched two projects to improve economic growth and development in Liberia.
The projects are the Enhanced Domestic Revenue Mobilization and Reform Implementation Project and the Debt and Ownership Transparency Technical Assistance Project.
Speaking on Thursday, February 5, 2025, Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, said,” The projects will empower fourteen ministries and agencies of the government”.
Minister Ngafuan added that they will address the many challenges the ministries and agencies are faced with to operate effectively.
The finance minister named the Judiciary as one of the branches of government targeted in two projects, based on its credibility in attracting investors and improving the country’s economy.
Meanwhile, the Officer-In-Charge of the ADB Country Office, Yusuf Foday, called on ministries and agencies involved to jump-start the projects.
Foday believes that the delay will deny the Liberian people the just benefits of the projects.
He also recommitted the ADB to working with the Government of Liberia to achieve the goals of the goals.
The Enhance Domestic Revenue Mobilization and Reform Implementation Project will enhance domestic revenue capacity through enhanced tax policy and improved tax administration.
Meanwhile, the Debt and Ownership Transparency Assistant Project will enhance economic governance in Liberia by strengthening public tax transparency, among others.
