Press Union of Liberia Reaffirms Commitment to Upholding Rule of Law…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and the protection of media rights.

PUL President, Julius Kanubah, emphasized that Liberia’s democratic progress is fundamentally intertwined with respect for the rule of law and the professional conduct of the media.

Kanubah made the statement, Tuesday, January 5, 2026, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, during the start of the second regional Media-Security Conference.

The PUL President also highlighted the importance of fostering constructive partnerships between the media and the security sector to safeguard electoral integrity.

Kanubah, at the same time, urged stakeholders to uphold an environment that is free of harassment and intimidation for journalists nationwide.

The ongoing conference is the second of three regional gatherings organized by the United Nations Development Programme and the National Elections Commission (NEC), in collaboration with the Joint Security and the Press Union of Liberia.
