MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is rallying African Leaders to rise above complacency in addressing the continent’s pressing challenges.
President Boakai said,” Complacency on the part of African leaders has over the years affected the continent’s progress and derailed the trust of the people”.
The President’s remarks were contained in a speech he delivered at the opening session of the MeDays Forum in Morocco on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
The Liberian Leader said it’s time for African Leaders to begin actionable steps to address the issues of poverty, climate change, and growing insecurity on the continent.
He noted that these steps, when taken, are critical to elevating the continent from a stage for global rivalry to a strong pillar of global peace, leadership, and negotiation.
President Boakai urged his counterpart to remain committed to building a future where Africa is respected and its voice shapes global outcomes.
Meanwhile, President Boakai has underscored the importance of geopolitics, security, economic governance, and regional integration as pillars for Africa’s growth and development.
The Liberian said,” The pillars are critical to transitioning Africa from being just an observer and a recipient to becoming an architect and major contributor to global politics and regional growth”.
He maintained that the continent, endowed with resources, creativity, and determined people, must take bold steps to shape the global equation based on fairness, peace, and inclusiveness.
President Boakai stated that African leaders must begin implementing agendas that reflect the priorities of the people, while building strong partnerships for regional progress, peace, and stability.
The Liberian Chief Executive said,” In doing so, the continent will strengthen its purpose, leadership, and reclaim its voice through coordinated actions”.
