MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A nine-member delegation of potential energy investors from the United States has presented a proposal to establish a 300-megawatt power plant in Liberia.
The delegation, led by Liberian-American Entrepreneur James Tarpeh, presented the proposal to Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at a high-level strategic meeting in Monrovia.
A Foreign Ministry release said the meeting is aimed at advancing Liberia’s pursuit of energy independence and sustainable economic growth through proactive economic diplomacy.
Tarpeh said,” The proposed power plant is envisioned as a transformative national asset, intended to position Liberia as an emerging competitor in the West African energy market”.
He said,” The initiative will significantly reduce the country’s dependence on expensive and unreliable energy sources, while boosting industrial capacity and strengthening overall economic resilience.
Responding, Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti said,” The proposal aligns with the Government of Liberia’s long-term development agenda”.
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti reaffirmed the Ministry’s openness to credible investors committed to supporting Liberia’s energy transition and economic advancement.
