MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has admonished the 71st graduating class of the Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute to be strong advocates for Liberia’s prosperity.
President Boakai said,” Becoming advocates for Liberia’s prosperity requires moving beyond traditional diplomacy and becoming diplomats par excellence”.
The President encouraged them to be at the forefront of attracting responsible investment and forging partnerships that create jobs for all citizens.
The Liberian Leader also cautioned the emerging diplomats to be architects of peace and regional stability, highlighting the country’s turbulent past and its path to recovery.
He charged them to carry the mantle of service with uncompromising integrity, professionalism, and patriotism, while rejecting the temptations of corruption in all its forms.
At the same time, the Executive Director of the Foreign Service Academy of Sierra Leone emphasized the importance of strengthened partnerships in pursuing excellence in diplomacy.
Ambassador Souliaman Daramy said the partnership between the institutes of Liberia and Sierra Leone is critical to the exchange of ideas and the promotion of diplomacy to the highest standards.
The Ambassador described the ceremony as a celebration of shared values and goals aimed at advancing the image of Liberia on the global stage.
He urged the graduates to use their acquired knowledge to become torchbearers of change as they emerge in the diplomatic space.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has described the ceremony as a defining moment of pride in the nation’s quest to nurture its emerging diplomats. Minister Beysolow-Nyanti said,” The event also represents a turning moment in Liberia’s journey to reclaiming its rightful place among the comity of nations.
The Dean of the Liberian Cabinet admonished the graduates to walk with integrity and utmost dedication to public service.
She urged them to put the interest of the country above personal and political agendas.
The Liberian Foreign Minister, at the same time, highlighted strides being made at the Foreign Ministry to improve the overall foreign outlook of the country.
