MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Public Works, Roland Giddings, says the road concession between the Government of Liberia and PAVIPORT AL ASSOCIATE represents a shift in sustainable road access management in Liberia.
Minister Giddings said,” The concession corridor, which links four key counties, including Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Lofa, will enhance tourism and reinforce Liberia’s regional trade integration under ECOWAS”.
He noted that the construction of the 255km of road from Madina to Robertsport, Klay to Bo-Waterside, and the Voinjama to Mendikorma will enhance agricultural transportation and strengthen trade with Guinea and Sierra Leone.
The Minister of Public Works stated that the project will contain several features, including single and dual-lane carriages, four drainage systems, street lighting, rest-stops, and a climate-resilient pavement.
He noted that the construction of the road corridors will be done within five years if the agreement is ratified by the National Legislature.
The Minister of Public Works spoke on Tuesday, October 4, 2025, during a public hearing at the Liberian Senate on the Concession Agreement between the Government of Liberia and the PAVIFORT AL ASSOCIATE Incorporated.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has described the road concession agreement as feasible.
The Acting Minister of Finance, Anthony Myers, said,” The project is financially feasible and manageable in the long-term scope of the country’s expected revenues”.
Minister Myers maintained that the long-term economic viability of the project is well-positioned with no risk attached.
Also, the Minister of Transport, Sirleaf Tyler, pledged his Ministry’s commitment to the project if ratified by the National Legislature.
The Acting Finance Minister said,” The Ministry of Transport has begun the development of a National Toll Policy to regulate toll booths that will be constructed as part of the concession agreement”.
