First Lady Kartumu Boakai Calls for Holistic Fight in Tackling Breast Cancer

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-First Lady, Kartumu Boakai, is calling for a holistic fight in tackling breast cancer in Liberia.

Madam Boakai said,” Tackling the disease must be inclusive of all sectors, including the government, civil society organizations, and international partners”.

The First Lady made the call over the weekend at a fundraising program for breast cancer survivors in Monrovia.

She called on women to prioritize their health, noting that breast cancer is not a death sentence, while describing ignorance and silence as deadly vices of the disease.

Madam Boakai also reaffirmed her commitment to working with women and targeted organizations in addressing issues affecting women’s growth and development.

The program, which was intended to raise funds to support survivors of the disease, is part of a series of activities in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
