MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has called on the people of Lofa County to unite and take collective action to restore the region’s former status as the “Breadbasket of Liberia”.
The President’s message was delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Minister of State for Public Affairs, Anthony Kesselly, at the Inaugural Ball and Fundraising Dinner of the Federation of Lofa Association in the Americas (FLAA) over the weekend.
In his keynote address, Deputy Minister Kesselly emphasized President Boakai’s view that peace and togetherness are the foundational elements for economic development and prosperity.
He reminded the audience that the President, whom he referred to as the “Grand Uncle of the County”, is deeply committed to fostering reconciliation within Lofa County and across the nation.
Deputy Minister Kesselly also encouraged citizens to work toward erasing “the illness of antagonistic demarcation” and to help bring communities together.
He cited the President’s recent addresses at the Liberia Diaspora Conference in Washington, D.C, and the commemorative anniversary of four counties in Voinjama as further evidence of his commitment to national unity and a common purpose.
President Boakai also pledged his administration’s substantial support for a diaspora-led initiative aimed at creating positive change in Lofa County.
