MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai and delegation are expected to return to the country on Tuesday, September 30, after concluding a productive official visit to the United States of America.
The President’s engagements in the U.S were centered on advancing Liberia’s development interests.
According to a notice signed by Acting Information Minister Johnny Tarkpah, a key highlight of President Boakai’s trip was his active participation in the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
During the assembly, President Boakai held a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with international partners, focusing on mobilizing support for Liberia’s development agenda.
Following the UNGA, President Boakai launched the Liberia Diaspora Conference, an initiative designed to encourage Liberians living abroad to remain actively involved in the nation’s development programs.
Upon his arrival on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, President Joseph Bokai’s first official engagement will be an intercessory service at the Life Center Church in Lower Margibi County.
At the same time, the Liberian Leader says his administration is taking steps to address the complex social and economic conditions it inherited.
President Boakai noted that, though the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, the government is focused on six critical pillars that will promote development, which include Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, Tourism, and Technology.
He emphasized that his agenda is a response not only to current challenges but also aligns with the government’s National Vision 2030 to transform Liberia into a lower-middle-income country and build a capable, inclusive state.
The President spoke on Friday, September 26, 2025, when he addressed the inaugural Liberia Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., United States of America.
President Boakai committed the Liberian government to improving the livelihoods and ensuring that every Liberian, both at home and abroad, can share in the growth and progress that the reform agenda and national development plan will bring.
Meanwhile, President Boakai described the Diaspora Community as a vital force in the government’s collective effort to build an equitable, inclusive, and prosperous nation.
He said,” For decades, the Liberian Diaspora Community has played a crucial role in the country’s development journey, making the community an essential component of Liberia’s progress”.
President Boakai lauded the community for the services they have rendered in Liberia, while encouraging them to return home and contribute to the development process.
According to the Liberian Leader, the rebranding and transformation of Liberia cannot be done by the government alone, but requires the active, sustained, and intentional involvement of all citizens.
The 2025 Diaspora Conference, which is bringing together Liberians from across the world, including North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, is being held under the theme:” Building the Future Together, Reconciliation, National Healing, Growth, and Prosperity.
