MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has appointed several qualified persons to serve as Judges, Stipendiary Magistrates, and Associate Magistrates across the country.
An Executive Mansion release said the move is in line with the Liberian Constitution and in pursuance of the New Judiciary Law of Liberia, Chapter 7, Section 7.6.
The release named Montserrado, Bong, Nimba, Grand Bassa, Gbarpolu, Maryland, Rivercess, Lofa, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, and Bomi as some of the counties being captured during the appointment process.
According to the release, the appointment is intended to further strengthen the judicial system by ensuring that all counties and magisterial areas are staffed with competent judicial officers.
Among those appointed are Cllr. William Capehart as Traffic Court Judge of Gbarnga, Bong County, Atty. Catherine Nyenkan, Stipendiary Magistrate, Bushrod Island, Montserrado County, and Rufus Kekeh, Associate Magistrate, Zuolay, Nimba County.
President Boakai, in the release, called on the newly appointed officials to uphold the rule of law and ensure equal access to justice, while conducting themselves with professionalism, independence, and impartiality.
