RIVER GEE COUNTY, LIBERIA-Residents of River Gee County have commended the Government of Liberia for the impactful intervention in the reduction of basic commodity prices across Liberia.
The residents noted that the recent reduction in prices of essential goods, including rice, oil, and other household items, has brought relief to many struggling families.
The county’s Civil Society Organizations (CSO) chairman, Abu Diallo, has also applauded the President for his strong leadership and commitment to addressing the economic burdens faced by ordinary Liberians.
Diallo said the President’s action is not only impactful but a turning point in improving the daily lives of citizens.
He further described the move as “a total life-saver” and encouraged the government to maintain the momentum.
Meanwhile, residents also acknowledged the drop in the exchange rate of the US dollar and called on stakeholders to continue supporting policies that promote economic stability and reduce hardship in rural communities.
In another development, River Gee County District Two Representative, Isaac Choloplay Wuo, has officially broken ground for the construction of a modern market hall in Fish Town.
According to our Correspondent, the project, valued at over thirty thousand U.S. dollars, is expected to boost local businesses and provide a safer space for vendors and buyers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Representative Wuo described the initiative as a meaningful investment in the county’s local economy.
He said the market hall is not just a building, but a step toward empowering communities and promoting economic growth.”
Meanwhile, elders, youths, women groups, and the Community Chairman, Elemey Elliot, praised the lawmaker’s efforts and assured that the community will take full responsibility for safeguarding the building materials throughout the construction period.
