Pres. Boakai Nominates New Minister of State, Leaves for the U.S. Today

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has nominated Samuel Stevquoah as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.

It followed the demise of Sylvester Grisby, who formerly served in the position.

An Executive Mansion release said the critical appointment highlights the President’s commitment to ensuring dynamic, effective, and principled leadership at the highest level of government.

Pending the conclusion of the Liberian Senate’s Constitutional Recess, Stevquoah has been authorized to act in this capacity, ensuring continuity and stability in the management of presidential affairs.

In the official communication addressed to Stevequoah, President Boakai expressed strong confidence in the nominee’s ability to uphold the values and fulfill the duties of the office with distinction.

The President emphasized the importance of integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the Liberian state.

The Liberian Leader extended his congratulations to Stevquoah and wished him every success as he embarks on this significant responsibility and service to the nation.

With a background in administration and public policy, Stevquoah has served in various capacities within government and the private sector, earning a reputation for his integrity, strategic thinking, and dedication to national development.

In another development, President Joseph Boakai and a delegation are expected to depart the country today, Monday, September 2025, to attend the first-ever diaspora conference in the United States of America.

The conference, which has been postponed on several occasions, is intended to bring together members of the Diaspora Community from around the world to advance strategies that are pivotal to Liberia’s growth.

According to the Presidential Press Secretary, Kula Fofana, the meeting will also serve as a medium through which members of the Diaspora Community can reconnect to their roots, while forging tangible investments.

Madam Fofana maintained that while the President is in the US, he will also participate in the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York City.

According to her, the President will join other global leaders I discussing issues of importance to peace, security, family, and health, among others.

This year’s Assembly is expected to be held under the theme: “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights”.
