MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Labor on Wednesday retired several of its employees following long service.
The retirement comes as a result of a recommendation made by the Civil Service Agency (CSA) to retire public employees who have met the minimum benchmark for retirement under the CSA Standing Order.
Speaking to a cross-section of employees, officials, and guests, among others, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Ministry of Labor in Congo Town, Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah urged the employees of the Ministry to work diligently and with commitment to make them eligible for retirement.
Minister Kruah appreciated the retirees for their service to the Ministry of Labor and urged them to always come around if the need arises to provide their professional service that could move the Country forward.
Speaking on behalf of Civil Service Agency Director General Josiah Jokai, the Director for Welfare, Rufus Johnson, outlined several challenges that affect retirees, including low pay, delay in payment, and loneliness, among others.
He, however, noted that these challenges can be mitigated if a stronger support system is established, better pension management systems are in place, and a policy that protects the dignity of the men and women who have served the country faithfully.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Emma Benson appreciated the effort of the Ministry of Labor for organizing such a program in recognition of their work during their period of service.
