Pres. Boakai Reaffirms Gov.’s Commitment to Fighting Financial Crimes

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s commitment to fighting financial crimes.

President Boakai also made mention of strengthening the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and the establishment of a specialized court to fight financial crimes.

The Liberian leader made the statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, during a meeting with a delegation from the Inter-Government Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).

In an ELBC Interview on Wednesday, following the meeting, the Director General of GIABA, Edwin Harris, said,” The persistence of money laundering in a country drives away investors and contributes to unemployment”.

The GIABA Director General lauded President Boakai for taking deliberate steps and committing the government to fighting financial crimes.
