MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has officially dedicated three newly renovated military barracks in Nimba, Margibi, and Grand Gedeh Counties.
President Boakai described the event as a landmark step in improving the welfare and readiness of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).
The dedication ceremony was attended by top military officials, lawmakers, local officials, and citizens who gathered to witness what the President called a “tangible expression” of national gratitude.
President Boakai praised the Ministry of National Defense and the leadership of the AFL for delivering on a critical national priority.
He also commended the contractors and local communities for their patience and cooperation during the renovation process.
According to the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia,” The barracks are not just military installations, they are integral parts of the communities, symbols of national presence and progress”.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Leader has pledged further investments in military infrastructure, training, and equipment.
President Boakai said,” The newly modernized barracks are part of my government’s broader promise to provide soldiers with decent housing, sanitation, and professional workspaces”.
According to the President, adequate housing, proper sanitation, and functional workspaces are fundamental necessities for a professional military force.
To the officers and enlisted personnel who will occupy the barracks, President Joseph Boakai urged them to take ownership, promote professionalism, and demonstrate pride.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, Momo Cyrus, has praised the Commander-in-Chief of the AFL, President Joseph Boakai, for his stewardship in improving the infrastructure of the Liberian Army and National Police.
Senator Cyrus said, “The renovation and modernization of the three military barracks is a milestone step in addressing challenges, including housing and low morale in the army”.
He said the renovation of barracks in the three counties represents national healing and restructuring, adding that it is a statement of national resolve to invest and adequately address the infrastructure challenges of various sectors.
The Lofa County Lawmaker said more can be done in adequately addressing the many constraints and challenges facing Liberia’s infrastructure development, stressing that this can be done through a proper scrutiny of concession agreements by legislators.
Senator Cyrus said,” I and other lawmakers, going forward, will not sign concessions that are not impactful to the citizens”.
