Pres. Boakai Urges African Development Bank…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is urging the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support the actualization of the Liberty Corridor Project.

The ambitious infrastructure initiative, when completed, will connect Liberia to Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Mali.

According to President Boakai, the project will enhance regional integration, trade, and boost economic growth among targeted countries.

The Liberian Leader said, “Throughout the project, Liberia will serve as a gateway to several landlocked countries in the region to have access to the Atlantic Ocean.”

The Liberty Corridor Project is a proposed large-scale infrastructure development that is aimed at connecting Guinea, Liberia, primarily through a new heavy-duty railway and a deeper water port.

The project also includes road and energy infrastructure upgrades, as well as telecommunications development.

At the same time, President Boakai has lauded the AfDB for supporting Liberia’s Public Financial Reform over the years.

The Liberian Leader said, “Such support has improved fiscal discipline and enhanced service delivery across the country. These steps have been critical to rebuilding trust in governance and setting the stage for lasting progress.”

He made the commendation at a high-level Expanded Cabinet Meeting and the launch of the Liberia Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank in Congo Town on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

President Boakai described the Bank not just as a trusted partner in Liberia, but a champion for Africa’s development and progress.

In another development, President Boakai has reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance on corruption and other vices that have the propensity to undermine the country’s growth.

The Liberian Leader said,” The government will work diligently to ensure that the country’s resources are distributed to the people to ensure the prosperity of Liberia.”

President Boakai made the statement on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, when he officially opened the Maternal, Newborn, Triage and Isolation Facilities at the Liberian government Hospital in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

The President described the facilities as the beginning of sustainable developments in Liberia, but urged citizens of the area to take ownership of the facilities, ensuring proper maintenance.
