Liberia’s Criminal Court ‘A’ Finds Defendant Elijah Guilty in Arson Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Court ‘A’ on Monday handed down a unanimous guilty verdict in the arson criminal attempt to murder defendant Elijah Laquie.

Defendant Laquie, according to the indictment, was in constant confusion with his fiancée, threatening to kill her at all costs.

Princess is reported to have moved out to Mount Barclay, where they earlier resided.

Defendant Elijah, upon hearing that Princess had moved to another community, found the area and took with him gasoline and wasted it through her window while she and her sister were asleep.

At that instance, the defendant is said to have struck matches and set the entire house ablaze, leaving the building completely burnt.

Judge Roosevelt Willie then instructed the Probation Services to forward their report concerning Elijah’s character in the community where he had earlier resided.

Meanwhile, defendant Elijah Laquie will be sentenced on Friday, July 18, 2025, based on the reports from the Probations Office at the Ministry of Justice.
