MONROVIA, LIBERI-The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has arrived in Liberia for his first official visit.
Mr. Grossi was welcomed by senior government officials, including the Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Emmanuel Yarkpawolo.
His visit marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Liberia and the IAEA.
Over the years, Liberia has deepened its cooperation with the IAEA by committing to the safe and secure use of nuclear technology.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) on July 3, 2025, the IAEA Director General highlighted the broad area of ongoing cooperation between the IAEA and Liberia, including the application of nuclear technology in agriculture, improvements in healthcare services, energy planning, and environmental protection.
His trip is expected to include high-level meetings with government officials, site visits to project locations, and discussions on expanding future collaboration.
The visit underscores the IAEA’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s efforts in building a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.
