Pres. Boakai Issues Executive Order 141…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has issued Executive Order Number 141 to strengthen national security and public safety.

The Executive Order, which mandates the registration of all firearms in civilian possession is in response to growing national security threats posed by illegal firearms.

An Executive Mansion release says the proliferation of unregulated small arms not only poses a threat to Liberia’s peace and security but also stalls economic growth.

The Executive Order mandates all individuals in possession of military-style weapons and single-barrel guns to register and obtain a permit and license from the National Commission on Arms and the Liberia National Police.

The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with LINCA, will oversee the enforcement of the Executive Order and work closely with County and District authorities to ensure full compliance.
