Finance, Dev. Planning Minister Attends World Bank, African Dev. Bank Group Africa Energy Summit

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Ngafuan is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to attend the World Bank and the African Development Bank Group Africa Energy Summit.

According to a Finance Ministry release issued recently, the Summit is expected to run from Monday, January 27 to Tuesday, January 28.

Minister Ngafuan is accompanied by Deputy Finance Minister for Economic Management, Dephue Zuo, as part of President Joseph Boakai’s delegation to the Summit.

The Liberian Finance Minister is expected to also make a special statement on the current state of the country’s Energy Sector.

The two-day event will highlight the Energy Sector’s successes in selected countries, establish an alliance of sector stakeholders to accelerate energy infrastructure investments, and strengthen regional power planning, markets trade, and policy frameworks, among others.

According to the release, the strengthening of these crucial areas is aimed at supporting the implementation of the Continental Master Plan and the African Single Electricity Market.

It will bring together African Heads of State, international partners, and Private Sector leaders, among others, to advance Mission300, a groundbreaking initiative to scale energy access to 300 million Africans and accelerate the Continent’s clean energy transition.

The release is quoted as saying the program will also prioritize sustainable financing models and address critical challenges such as currency mismatches in project funding.
