Grand Gedeh County Residents Alarm over Price Hike, Want Gov.’s Intervention…

GRAND GEDEH COUNTY, LIBERIA-Residents of Grand Gedeh County have alarmed over the skyrocketing of prices in goods and services, and are calling on the Central Government’s intervention.

According to our Correspondent, the current rate of one US Dollar to Liberian Dollars is 180, while the prices of cement, and a bag of rice, among others, have increased from 2,200-2,700, and 3,800-4,200 LD, respectively.

He said local business owners’ justification of the price hike is that the prices of goods remain the same at those central buying points, couple with bad road conditions, thus forcing them to retain or increase prices.

Our Correspondent said the current economic situation in the county is becoming more challenging, especially during this Festive Season.

Meanwhile, our Correspondent said the Local Commerce Officer in the county has declined to comment on the issue.
