Majority Bloc of House of Rep. Signed Resolution to Remove Speaker Koffa

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Majority members of the House of Representatives have signed a resolution, removing the legitimacy of embattled Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa.

The Resolution, signed by forty-three members of the Lower House, also invoked the House’s Standing Rules Numbers Eight and Twelve, along with Article 33 of the Constitution, which states that “A simple majority of each House shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.”

In a letter addressed to Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah on Tuesday, October 22,2024, the Majority Bloc of the House of Representatives announced that a session has been duly convened in the Joint Chambers.

As such, the majority lawmakers have invited the Deputy Speaker Fallah to participate in session on Thursday, October 24,2024, to ensure the effective conduct of business on behalf of the Liberian people.

According to them, his prompt attendance and adherence to the directive are critical to upholding the constitutional process and ensuring the uninterrupted service of the House of Representatives.
